Why We Make What We Make

A couple of months ago, we spoke with Masha from Constrvctor Textile Agency.

Answering her questions gave us the opportunity to pause and reflect on why we do what we do at Cabra, the materials we choose, the pace we work at, and the values behind every piece we make.

That conversation inspired us to share more of our process and our reasoning, beyond the finished garments. Over the coming weeks, we’ll be sharing parts of this interview on our Instagram, opening up those reflections a little further. In the meantime, if you’d like to read the full conversation, you can find it on the Constrvctor blog at the link below.

We’d also like to thank Masha for the conversation and the care behind her questions, it’s always a pleasure to collaborate.

"Why denim? What was the moment you realised this material would be the foundation of Cabra?

It started with function. The first thing I ever tried to sew was a heavy-duty cycling bag, something built to survive real use. That experience shaped the way I think about clothing. When I started making garments, softer fabrics didn’t match the way I move or the kind of pieces I wanted to create.

I needed a material that could live with me, on the bike, in the workshop, in day-to-day life. That naturally led me to workwear, with denim at its centre. Few fabrics offer the same balance of durability, ageing, and personality. That’s why denim became the backbone of Cabra."
